Timbuktu is a real place. It is located in the impoverished country of Mali in northwestern Africa. The average worker earns $1,500 a year or less and lives to be 45 years of age. Too many young girls are taken as child brides then discarded with their children as being damaged and having no value. Thankfully the SIS (Sisters in Service), a global ministry group engaging in women's and children's ministries, is there to offer hope and support.
