Stewardship & You
In 2009, Epworth adopted this Strategic Practice - To be a church that practices “extravagant generosity” in all we do and are as we respond to a God of abundance and blessing. The practice of generosity describes the Christian’s unselfish willingness to give in order to make a positive difference for the purposes of Christ. Extravagant Generosity describes practices of sharing and giving through prayers, presence, witness, gifts and service that exceed all expectations and extend to unexpected measures. It describes lavish sharing, sacrifice and giving in service to God and neighbor.”
Stewardship of Time & Talent
At Epworth, opportunities abound for you to live out your unique gifts given by the Spirit for the betterment of others and to the glory of God.
Congregants sharing their time and their talents are essential to the dynamic growth of Epworth and its outreach to the community. As a follower of Christ, we are called to discover and develop our unique talents and serve.
Stewardship of Gifts
Monetary gifts are essential to the support the day-to-day activities of Epworth Church -- missions, personnel, facilities, stewardship, caring ministry, worship and music, education, communications, hospitality, mortgage and debt retirement. Flexible methods of giving are available to suit your individual needs (weekly envelop, plate, check or credit/ debit card). All contributions are tax deductible in accordance with current laws and regulations.
Stewardship of Gifts
Capital Campaign
A capital campaign raises money for specific purposes. Epworth United Methodist Church next Capital Campaign will be in 2012 and will accomplish the following objectives:
-
Reduce Epworth’s current mortgage principal which will not reduce mortgage payments, but will retire the debt sooner.
-
Provide additional significant capital needs not provided by the normal operating budget. These new capital expenditures will support God’s work by growing Epworth’s ministry efforts.
You may jump start Epworth’s Capital Campaign by making designated donations at any time.
Investments
Capital Revenue Notes (CRNs) are an opportunity for the congregation to financially contribute to Epworth’s capital needs while at the same time earn a competitive rate of return . CRNs are obligations of the church to the note holders to redeem principal amounts upon maturity plus the annual interest. Since CRN sales raise funds at interest rates lower than commercial mortgage rates, the notes reduce the church’s cost of borrowing.
Several gifting and rollover options have been elected by CRN note holders:
-
Designate Epworth as the beneficiary on their CRN applications, thereby, providing a future gift to the church.
-
Forgive the notes as they mature and return the funds to the church as a gift.
-
Donate annual interest earned back to Epworth.
-
Choose to rollover notes into a new term instead of redeeming them upon maturity.
