We are looking for several persons who would be interested in being Epworth's Lend-a-Hand representatives starting in January 2011.
What is Lend-a-Hand? It is a group of persons sponsored by the Association of Churches, of which Epworth is an active part, that works with families with significant needs to help them connect with the resources they need to meet their challenges. It is not a "hand out"; it is a "hand up", working to help people thrive and become self-sufficient.
How does it work? Persons are often referred to Lend-a-Hand by our own Good Samaritans and staff. The work of Lend-a-Hand is funded by money raised through the New Life Thrift Store and contributions from churches.
Training and support are provided for this ministry to learn about existing resources and ways to help persons.
